This winter has been rather brutal in regards to my skin and psoriasis. It's been super cold and it has been snowing more often than I have ever seen here in my hometown in Scotland. My skin is not a fan of this weather at all. I also want to talk about Instagram censoring psoriasis hashtags. They must not be a fan of our skin? (Warning, pictures of psoriasis will feature on this post)
My skin has been flaring up since just before Christmas. Partly to do with uni stress but mostly to do with the weather. Patches reappearing quicker than the blink of an eye. I never understand how it appears so damn quickly. I've had a few mornings where I have woken up where my body feels like it is on fire. It's so unpleasant and so frustrating. There's also embarrassing moments such as when I may scratch my arms without really being aware of doing so, go to take my cardigan off and boom there's little bits of skin flying out of the sleeves. I do try to take moments like this as funny but sometimes its rather hard.
All I've been doing is trying to keep up with my Aveeno moisturising which only helps so much. Soon I will probably have to head to the doctors and get more creams and gels to get it back to normal. Sometimes I do just want to hide in my bed when my skin flares up but I also know that I'm fortunate that my flare ups aren't as severe as others. I try to remain positive as you end up falling into a vicious cycle. The worse you feel can aggravate psoriasis even more. I can not wait for Summer and some warm weather so my skin can stop being so sore.
Instagram
Over the past couple of days there has been an issue with Instagram and the psoriasis community. Hashtags which have built up a community and support system for those who have psoriasis have been blocked and censored. I only learned this through youtuber Shaun Alexander (watch his video below if you want more info) and was deeply saddened that something like this has happened. Hashtags such as #getyourskinout #psoriasisuk #psoriasisawareness and a few more. People with psoriasis are already tough on ourselves for the way we look and we shouldn't have to hide what we have on Instagram just because a few people don't like seeing it. This is our skin, we may find it hard to love ourselves but we don't need further stigma and having a support system taken away.
There is currently a petition set up by the Psoriasis Association on stopping censorship of psoriasis on social media. If you wish to sigh the petition please do so. It would mean a great deal.
Thank you so much for reading this post. Does winter really mess with your skin? How do you cope with it? What are your thoughts on the censorship? Let me know below.
Hey everyone! An easygoing post today I think. Nothing that takes too much thinking perhaps. Decided that as it's nearly Valentine's Day I'm picking some songs that I would put in a Valentines playlist. Hope you enjoy. Also warning... it'll probably be a bit cheesy.
Haim - A Little of your Love
Exile - Kiss You All Over
Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge) - Come What May
Kylie Minogue - Sexy Love
Carly Rae Jepsen - Gimmie Love
Thanks for checking out my post today. Also I'm heavily into figure skating and two amazing skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (Team Canada) skated to Moulin Rouge at the Winter Olympics this week and it was fantastic so going to share it here.
Hope you enjoyed my post. Let me know what songs about love you would put in your playlist.
With it almost Valentine's Day I wanted to do a little post on luuuuurve. Well sort of. I'm going to talk about my OkCupid experience. The ups and the downs and I promise there is a happy ending.
The Beginning
I joined OkCupid when I was about 23. That was 4-5 years ago now. I know, I don't know where the time has gone either. I didn't take it too seriously at the time. I also didn't meet that many people. It took me a few months to work up the courage to finally agree to meeting someone. I learned very quickly though what messages to reply to and what messages to ignore and ones that perhaps deserved a chance. See... when a message just consists of "hey how r u? wuu2?" they really put me off replying because 9 times out of 10 those messages never went anywhere. It was the same every time and no effort to actually get to know each other.
I finally met up with one guy I had great conversations with, he was a little bit older. We met up, it went great, we got on pretty well and I'd say there was chemistry. We continued a few more times until he would be getting drunk the night before we'd hang out and make the excuse of being too hungover to meet up. I quickly decided that I didn't deserve to be let down over and over again. Back to OkCupid I went. Looking for the next chapter.

The Middle
So I continued with the online website dating. Talking to many different guys but not really feeling it. I ended up neglecting it. That was when someone messaged me but because I hadn't been on I hadn't replied. Through the website they found me on Facebook (sounds a lil creepy I know) and messaged me there. I got talking to him. We had great conversations online. We met up, got on pretty well, things were going great, I met his family, we went to Italy together and then he broke up with me the day after Valentine's Day to be with another girl. So I have definitely had my fair share of shit Valentine's Days. He let me fall hard for him without the intention of it going anywhere. I was just convenient for him at that moment in time. No worries though... I learned a lot in the aftermath about myself and about what kind of person and relationship I would want. Next!
The End
I thought to myself I'll give this site one more chance. However this time I wasn't feeling it at all. I was going a couple of months just ignoring it. I also took the break up pretty hard so I felt I needed to give myself some time to heal. I had also went into a brief fling with an ex. I am now 25 at this point and I go on for the sake of it and there is a message sitting from a guy I knew from high school. Completely surprised and pleased I replied. We quickly met up and it was just like catching up with someone because we already had stuff to talk about. He was great. No.. wait! He is great. Because that is how I met my wonderful partner in crime and it is the healthiest and most loving relationship I have ever been in. About time. I guess technically we already knew each other but if it wasn't for OkCupid we may never have got together.
Thoughts
Sometimes I feel like there is still a stigma on online dating but it opens you up to so much more. It helps you to put yourself out there when you aren't really into going out or a bit shy. It's still not easy and it can be a hit and miss (you gotta kiss a few frogs before you find your prince right?) but including myself I know many others who have met their loved one through the internet and I think that's a wonderful thing. I haven't used the website since 2015 so I don't know what it is like anymore but I'm sure it still has it's good points and bad points and sometimes it takes a bit of perseverance. But it certainly has brought people together and has given me experiences I never would have otherwise.

Thanks for reading! xx Hope you enjoyed my post! What are your thoughts on online dating? I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. I certainly had my issues with it from time to time. Let me know! :)
Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you are single or loved up make sure that if you are going to show anyone love... let it be yourself! You are just as important.
Over the month of January I have been pretty unwell. This explains why I haven't blogged the whole month, I've had to take time off at university and also means I haven't been doing all that much lately in general. Not to mention the weather has been far too cold to go out and do anything. What I have been doing though is watching shows. Well more than usual. I thought I would talk about the shows that I have been watching lately.
Call The Midwife
This one took me by surprise. I started this from the beginning after the New Year. I didn't think it was going to be a show that I would enjoy but I was completely sucked in. The thought of pregnancy and childbirth freak me out, and this show probably doesn't ease those thoughts but it's still an amazing show. It touches on some serious issues from the past that can also relate to current times. Issues such as babies born with deformities from the use of Thalidomide, gender equality, race, the NHS, and poverty among many more. One episode will have you go through so many emotions from happy to sad to happy again. Also I fell in love with the midwives and the nuns. Sister Monica Joan is one of my favourites. It's also great watching the characters grow over the seasons. (The first five seasons are on Netflix UK)
Derry Girls
I have been catching up on the first few episodes of the past couple of days and I have enjoyed it so much. I was pulled in by the fact that it's set in the 90s and I thought to myself that the music will be an absolute nostalgia trip for me and I was right. I love it. They're short episodes so easy to watch and it is absolutely hilarious. (This is on channel 4 in the UK so is on 4OD)
Black Mirror
I don't think I enjoyed season 4 as much as I enjoyed the previous seasons. It had a few good episodes such as Hang The DJ, USS Callister, and Black Museum. I kind of felt a bit bored with the other episodes of this season which is a shame but I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea this time around. (All seasons are on Netflix UK)
That 70s Show
I've been watching this whenever I'm staying over at Chris's and we're just hanging out in his room. Again it's an easy watch that gives you a laugh. I remember watching random episodes when it was on tv but haven't seen it the whole way through. I'm sure I hadn't even seen any of season 1 at all. I'm only on season 2 at the moment and seen some familiar faces such as Katey Sagal and Melissa Joan Hart. Eric the main character also reminds me a little bit of Chris from time to time. (All seasons on Netflix UK)
The Crown
I just finished season 2 of this show and I enjoyed it so much more than the first season. It was much easier to binge watch. The cast are amazing at portraying their characters and I'm going to miss them when season 3 begins with new actors. My favourite is Vanessa Kirby who plays the Queen's sister; Princess Margaret. She's absolutely stunning and her acting is so on point that you can't help but feel how she feels. The storylines were a lot more engaging for me this season although some of it went a bit quickly. Even though it's a show based upon real people and real events it's important to remember that it is a show for entertainment purposes and not everything will be accurate but it's still fun to watch. The score is also done by Hans Zimmer and it is stunning. (Seasons 1&2 are on Netflix UK)
Other mentions: Catfish, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Stacey Dooley Investigates, and Mindhunter.
Hope you enjoyed my post. Let me know what you've been watching and if there's anything you recommend me to watch.
