Happy New Year Everyone!
Today I want to talk about New Years Resolutions! From making promises to going on a diet, going to the gym more, starting a new skill or hobby, drink less or stop smoking. It's a tradition every year. I'm not quite into making a resolution in all honesty.
I can't even remember if there was a time where I did make one. If I did I was probably in my early teens. I'm all for making goals and plans for the new year ahead but I just find that making a resolution is on one hand placing more pressure on yourself but they are also in a way mocked because most people don't stick to theirs. Or they are made in a drunken mess on Hogmanay (Scottish version of New Year) and not remembered the following day. They're just not really my thing. So I'm sorry to any friends on Hogmanay who start asking me what mines is.
Instead of making a resolution I make the same promise to myself every year. To continue to be a better person and learn and grow as I go through this thing called life. I definitely have goals and plans for the year ahead for myself. I want to move out within the next year. I want to do better at uni and I want to improve this blog. So maybe I'm totally contradicting myself here. Ooops if I am.
I know New Year is a nice way to give people a clean slate and start afresh but if you want to do anything like go to the gym, start that new hobby, read more then there is no time like the present. Do it when you want to do it. But also there is nothing wrong with making a resolution and not following through. People have good intentions for others and themselves. Life just gets in the way or perhaps something just isn't right for us or isn't the right time. So also don't let me tell you resolutions are silly. They're not. I just know for myself I'm less likely to stick to it.
Also this year New Year falls on a Monday. It can't get any more satisfying than that right? Screw people who laugh and mock the "new year, new me". If you want to change go for it and don't listen to anyone else.
Do you make any New Year resolutions? Or is it not your thing? What kind of resolution are you making this year? Let me know below as I'd love to know. I hope you all smash it next year.
I wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best for 2018.
Goodbye 2017
I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. It's crazy. It has gone by so quickly and I'm trying to catch up with life. It's been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. The ending has been particularly stressful and I am looking forward to welcoming a new year in. I thought I would talk about some of my highlights of the year and some of the things I am looking forward to in 2018.

University
I think this is the biggest thing that happened to me this year. Maybe. I finished college and got my diploma in Social Sciences. I then got into 3rd year at uni and started in September. It's been mostly a positive experience but there are times where I have found it very hard. I'm just glad that I am getting through it this time.
Cinema
I've been a Cineworld Unlimited member since 2014. It was honestly such a great decision because I get to see more movies than I normally would. This year has been a good year for movies. Some of my favourites were probably Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2, Thor: Ragnarok, Dunkirk and Wonder Woman. I also got Unlimited Fan of the Month for October which was pretty cool as I got a £100 giftcard to spend on snacks and stuff. Was a happy bunny.

My First Tattoo
I'd wanted a tattoo for years but I didn't have the guts or the money to really go for it. This year though as a gift to myself for my psoriasis clearing up and finishing college I wanted to do this for myself. It was also one of my first posts which you can read here.
TRNSMT
So, a friend (I no longer talk to) and I went to the first TRNSMT. It's a music festival in Glasgow however unlike T In The Park there is no camping which is a pro in my opinion. We went for one of the days and had such a good time. We saw Biffy Clyro, Twin Atlantic, and the 1975. They are doing TRNSMT again in 2018 over 5 days instead of 3. Not sure if I'll be going again in 2018. Already got a lot on and not many of the acts have really appealed to me yet.
2 Years with Chris
On 11th December we celebrated 2 years together. Officially the longest relationship I've been in. No pressure Susan. Honestly though, he's the best and I'm reminded all the time just how amazing he is and how much I love that we are together. I can't wait for what the future holds for us. I really can't.
Hello 2018
So, 2018 is drawing very near. I'm sure it's going to be quite a busy one... maybe. I'll probably end up being super stressed out at some point with uni but hopefully I can manage it. I do have a few things to look forward to and some goals that I want to do over the next year.
Moving Out
I seriously hope that we save up enough money and get accepted for a mortgage so we can buy our own wee place. It's time that we have our own wee place together and that I have my independence and out from under my mum's feet. I've been saving up since June and it's not a lot but it's something.
Gigs and Shit
So a lot of my money this year has been spent on events for next year. So far I'm going to see Paramore in January, Imagine Dragons and Flight of the Conchords in March and going to see Wicked in June.
University
I hope to finish my 3rd year at uni and go into 4th year. My final year. Omg! I'm so bloody close to being finished. I've also been looking at what I want to do when I finish which includes looking into becoming a primary school teacher which is something I would need to apply for in September 2018. This has me pretty excited for some reason.
Learn Russian
So in October Chris and I started learning Russian using Duolingo. He's so much better at it than I am and due to me being busy with uni work I have been going at a slower pace. But I would like to continue it as it's a lot of fun. I used to know French but over the years I have forgotten every single word of it so would be cool to know another language. I'm not sure how useful Russian would be but it's interesting.
Thanks for reading. Let me know what your highlights of 2017 have been and what you're looking forward to next year.

I haven't really posted a blog post in a couple of weeks as I've been really busy with uni work. Thought I would fill you guys in on how that's been going.
Essays and Exams
So far I've done two essays which I passed. I got a B1 and a B2. I nearly freaked out because I thought I got a C. There's nothing wrong with that but when you've worked your arse off it's a bit of a knock. I was being silly though, I didn't understand the marking system and realised I done better than I thought. We also done a group presentation on Sectarianism in Scotland which we also got a B1. We were all pretty pleased with it to be honest. I am now studying like crazy for exams and still have an essay to finish before the 18th December. I think I might be going a little crazy. I've also had to go and stay at the boyfriend's to study as a little situation has occurred which I will talk about further on. This has also set my anxiety on high to the point that my second exam I will be putting in an extenuating circumstances form and do the resit. (Think I'll next be doing a post on anxiety).
Travelling
I still hate it. It still tires me out and I'm not even sure why. Although my first semester has practically ended. In semester 2 I don't have any 9am lectures which is a huge pro and I'm only in for 2 days instead of 3 which is another pro. There's also something about travelling in the Winter time. The train isn't so bad but the bus part of the journey is the worst. You get all dressed up and cosy because it's freezing outside but you get on the bus, the heating is on full and you end up sitting there sweating like you've just gone on holiday to the Caribbean and then feel sick and can't wait for the bus to get to your stop. Yep! I still hate it.
Family
So, I mentioned a situation occurred and that was my brother coming back to stay with us. It has been over a week now. I love my brother to bits and I enjoy his company... in small doses. I hate living with him. It's been a stressful time with uni coursework and exams, thinking about Christmas and he adds a little more on. We have things in common but we are also very opposite. He could talk for hours and I like my own company and quiet for a considerable amount of time. So I've had to try and adapt to that. The reason I have went to my boyfriend's to study though is that my brother was having the kids over and I would have no chance of studying at all. So it was for the best. Hopefully my brother will have his own place again soon. Although I actually quite enjoyed staying at my boyfriend's and getting to sleep next to him every night.
Psoriasis
Due to it being Winter and being extremely cold my skin has turned to shit. With the added stress of course work it has made it even worse. The past couple of days it has felt like my face and arms have been on fire and cried at 7am on Sunday morning due to it. Stress during the Winter for me is much worse that stress during any other time of the year.
The Course
So, I've had my ups and downs with the course so far. I hated one of my modules and I absolutely can't wait for it to be over. I have no idea why I thought picking policy was a good decision. Gender, Body and Society has been an absolute joy though and I will miss that class and the lecturer. The lecturer was hilarious and made the topics so interesting. When I go on to do my dissertation I'm definitely picking a topic in relation to that module. It was so relevant and with the sexual harassment scandals going about with Holywood recently it was very informative.
I can't believe how quickly the last few months have gone and that I am almost half-way through this year already. In a few months time I could have my degree and making plans for my Honours. The last time I was at uni I had dropped out way before this point so I'm definitely proud of myself for actually getting my essays done and getting to this point. The support I have this time is 10x better than it was before which has helped immensely. Now fingers crossed for my exam and last essay of the semester. Once I've submitted my essay it's time to start enjoying the holiday season.
Thanks for reading! How is your time at uni going so far? Anything you've enjoyed? Anything that you've hated?
